APPS for PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS
There are now many useful apps for showing your work on the iPad, for helping set up and manage your shoot, for wireless tethering to the iPad and for capturing and manipulating images on both iOS5 devices, its hard to stay abreast of the offerings. Share your favorite tools and tips with colleagues as well as get some up-to-date Apple DNA.
Ilex Press
Carrying an iPad in your camera bag is obviously a hot topic as two books dedicated to the subject have just been announced, or recently published.  In the Ilex Press book, iPad for Photographers, Ben Harvell explains how the iPad is revolutionising the way that pro photographers work. There are powerful photo editing applications, easy-to-use photo sharing and display programs, and useful tethered-shooting capabilities; this book explains all, and will be a must-read for digital photographers everywhere.
The iPhone 4s has stills and video capabilities that rival dedicated point and shoot cameras plus it is the camera that we are always carrying. With the add sharing functionality of iCloud and countless apps, it is not surprising that it is currently the most popular camera uploading images to Flickr.

Estimating 101 Presentation Online

" It's so great that people can still have big dreams" Tom Elfter, Chapter Treasurer.

Twenty five photographers braved the cold and rain on Wednesday, November 2nd to check out Lucas Cosgrove's " red X incubator space"  adjacent to his very cooly and homely studio .  The incubator is due to be finished early in 2012 so anyone photographer / artist / designer/ looking for a desk in a shared creative work environment should drop him a note and get in line.

Comments were extremely positive and it already stands as a testament to lots of hard work and creativity.  Lucas's Studio is also available to rent.   Those that still have not had the pleasure of seeing what he is working on can check out  the progress on his blog

Congratulations Lucas and thanks for hosting the evening.

JC Presenting Estimating 101  Photo Chris Vleisides
Conducted by the raging potbelly stove after the beer and pizza were consumed,  we got to work trying to learn a little more about this ever challenging business aspect of being a professional photographer.  Estimating 101 was conducted as two, part exercise with Jonathan Chester  presenting a keynote slide show outlining the many resources available to members on the ASMP National Website.  Then we workshopped 5 different estimating scenarios and had attendees give "off the cuff written bids" that several members then critiqued.

Very positive feedback was received about the evening and  several people asked that the Keynote be available online.

Thanks to presenters:  John Mutrux, Chris Vleisides, Jeff Evrard and Jeremy Ruzich and  to board members Tom Elfter and  Robin Lorenson for helping with the logistics.
